Official Newsletter - Northern Tasmanian Collingwood Supporters Group - November 2001
TO ALL MEMBERS Welcome to our last newsletter for the year. This year has seen a big improvement in both on and off the field for the club. With the side just missing out on the finals by 1 game and membership numbers increasing, the future looks good for all involved. As for the group this year we have signed up a lot of new members and it was good to see so many new faces at our family days at the Park when we held them. Next year will see a lot more games televised so we will be able to have these days more regularly than we did this year.
TO ALL MEMBERS
Welcome to our last newsletter for the year.
COLLINGWOOD V CARLTON RAFFLE DRAW DAY
When Collingwood played Carlton in round 21 we had our 2nd family day for the year. Our major raffle was drawn with many winners being present. We also ran various other raffles on the day with prizes being shared between the 40 strong crowd and the regulars at the Park. One table in particular won a couple of the major raffle prizes, a meat tray, the members prize and other prizes that were raffled on the day. No wonder they all left smiling even though we lost the game.
Our other prizes that were given away on the day, were our members prize, door prize and the kids prize. With the members prize they had to be present to win it. After many names were drawn out the winner ended up being Bruce Harris who won a Collingwood stadium bag for being present on the day. Well done Bruce. Our lucky door prize was won by Kevin Williams. Kevin got to choose from our large table of gifts for his prize. Congratulations Kevin. Daniel Barton won our kids prize where all of the kids went into the draw. Daniel won a backpack, mug, straw and football for his prize. Well done to Daniel. It was good to see all the kids down there all having some fun together.
Our major raffle was drawn by Ted Green here are the winners:
1ST PRIZE: $100 KMART VOUCHER - L. SHARP
A special thankyou goes out to all ticket sellers and to the people that donated prizes for the draw. The raffle was quite successful and we are now in a position financially to sponsor a player for the next season.
On behalf of everyone in the group I would like to congratulate Rebecca Quail on her selection to represent Tasmania in Bowls. Rebecca is one of our junior members and has already been on one trip interstate and due to go on another one shortly. So from everyone here congratulations and the best of luck on your next trip.

GAIL’S STAMPS AND CRAFTS
Gail Sargent is one of our members and has sent us in an advert for her business. Hopefully Gail your ad can attract some new customers for you.
Player Sponsorship and Player Function
A meeting will be held with the club in regards to player sponsorship and a player function for 2002.Although the player lists won’t be finalised till early next year we can at least inform the club of our intention to sponsor a player so we can get a better choice to pick from to sponsor.Next year we are looking at holding a players function early next season. When I speak with the club in November hopefully the roster will be done and a date can be pencilled in for a function. A list of players will be given to the club and with us getting in early we should hopefully be able to get 2 high profile players over for a weekend early in the season.
Late last week Ben Kinnear signed a new 2 year deal with Collingwood. Football manager Neil Balme said this about signing Ben. ”His form at the end of the year was outstanding which was probably the most significant point for us”. Although Ben played only 8 senior games this year his last 4 games showed that he can play a major role in the Collingwood side.
Early this week Andrew Bews was dumped as coach of Williamstown. His replacement has not yet been announced.
SPECIAL THANKYOU TO JIM COX MHA FOR AGAIN HANDLING ALL OF OUR PHOTOCOPYING FOR THE MAGPIE CHATTER THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AND JIMS SECRETARY FOR ALL HER HELP AS WELL. IT WAS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.
So once again to all members thankyou for a great year and we look forward to next season which looks like being a big year for the club.
